Despite a significant increase in the popularity of IP solutions, still the vast majority of existing analog video installations. With the launch of digital installations and appear on the market for new technology, an increasing number of users decides to switch from analog to network video systems, IP video surveillance systems, which give far more opportunities. There are several ways to transition from analogue to digital. To which one is best depends on a number of factors, of which I shall say more later in the article. Why change it? Conventional analog video monitoring system consists of analog cameras, transmission medium in the form of coaxial cabling (75Ω impedance) and digital recorder DVR (Digital Video Recorder), once the VCR ¹ VHS (Video Home System ³). Such a system has many limitations, which mainly include: the limited image resolution of analog cameras (up to PAL D1 720x576 pixels), the limited distance that can be sent to the video signal (the greater the distance the signal more) and lack of opportunities for cooperation with the latest technology. In addition, analog systems are not as flexible, scalable and digital installations, which in the opinion of experts are the only sufficiently effective way to build broad vision systems. It is precisely these factors largely make more and more people looking into changing the system analogue to digital, where data transmission takes place using computer ² networks to IP and ICT links.
